I can totally relate...I always have imagined I "tend' to be late because I continue to attempt to take care of 5 things before I go out the door when I only have time to take of 2...then I fall into exactly what you've described...

I love how you weave your thoughts to share your perspective in such relatable and entertaining way! can't wait until next week!!! Love you, Mom XOXOXOX

Kate,

This is the story of my life- being always 5-10min late. I hate the feeling it comes with being late too (anxiety, flustered, etc,) but myself care routine to go about my work day or date is so dialed in I refuse compromise. I wish America understood... This is something I’m working on and to be honest (& maybe even embarrassing here) it’s a little goal of mine. To.Be.On.Time.

Love you! Miss you! Happy Sunday :)

Kate, as always I adored the combination of philosophy, supportive affirmation, and whimsy that accompany your lovely explorations of wine. Thank you for getting me ready for the work week with your artsy wisdom. Much love from your auntie.

I'm nearly always on time, so it isn't so much that rushing makes me late, as it makes me annoyed and consumes my day. One of the main things I've gained from leaving America is a new found respect for and understanding of time. It is indeed cultural, but in the sense that there just isn't so much to do in Belize, as opposed to everybody here being late all the time. (Which they are as well 🤷)

The typical obligation is still there, like getting food or paying the power bill, but it isn't on an endless list of other stupidities that need completed prior; I can just go to the store or pay the bill. I don't have to dig the car out, inch through traffic, find parking, circle the block, get parking, let the guy out, park, pay to park, walk back and display the pay to park receipt, walk half a block, and then go to the store. I just go to the store. Pace is key. So is quantity. Being on time is a lot easier goal when it's just being on time. I still starfish like a champ though ⭐

I really like this perspective, as I think it’s a distillation of what we all struggle with — often the details and small tasks that must come together to achieve one task often become more overwhelming than the task itself. I can imagine how refreshing the simplicity of just.... going to the store is! (What a thought!). I’m not even sure how whole-heartedly I support being late, but wanted to challenge myself to reimagine the concept of timing, and question how we think about it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, the part about simplifying is so key!
