I’m putting together a trends panel for a conference. Definitely love your take on the topic. “What is a trend?” is a way more interesting question than “what is trendy.”
It’s for the Food Photo Affair in Napa in November. Looks like a great conference is shaping up. So far the structure of my discussion is loose. Definitely more about what a trend is and how trends are defined.
I loved this episode. I had a similar traumatic experience in 6th grade with low rise AE jeans. We had to assume child’s pose in the hallway for a tornado drill (has there ever been a tornado in Georgia??) and I was struggling with a buttcrack exposé so my social studies teacher laid her jacket over me 😭😭😭 definitely more emotionally intelligent than the teacher who targeted you, but I still feel all 🥴 when I think about it 15 years later...
Also I bought crocs last week and they’re my official house shoes of summer.
I also ended up in a Google hole about tornadoes in Atlanta after this comment which led to a “6 left dead by GA tornado” article from last week, so apparently I’m stupid, but it does highlight another reason why low rise jeans should not return
Lol OMG, I can envision that perfectly. Thank god she at least offered to cover you, but still, those pants will scar our generation for eternity. Thank you for the laugh.
Also fully support the crocs. I'm about to order my own. Birthday crocs baby!
Lovely words this week - as always. Wanted you to know that yesterday Maggie and I were having one of our usual discussions about this pandemic world and she said that she had just read a really interesting article about what future nostalgia for the pandemic might be like. I said that Kate wrote about that in her blog and she said, "Oh, yeah, that's where I read it!" Have a wonderful birthday!
Definitely using triangle back in my next zoom class.
Yessssssss

Thank you! What is the trends panel about? Sounds intriguing; would love to hear more about it as you put it together.

Awesome! Will have to pick your brain about it when you all visit. Getting excited for that.
Also happy early birthday ❤️ Have an awesome week!!
Thank you love!! <3 <3

Haha I love that! Hoping this pandemic world keeps heading in the right direction. How are vaccinations going in Chicago?
More people are getting vaccinated in Chicago these days so I hope we're seeing a light at the end of this dark time. Love and miss you!
